No Greater Cause...

It's official!  I have a blog. :)  I have spent my whole life (well, at least the last little while) following some pretty great blogs (ahem...stalking is probably a better word.)  My favorite blogs are definitely the missionary blogs.  They always inspire me, uplift me, and get me REALLY excited to do missionary work.  And now it's MY turn.  I get to have a missionary blog.

I was called as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (if you'd like to know more about our church...click on the link...http://mormon.org/ ) on September 14, 2011.  I was called to the Scotland/Ireland mission!!!  I was shocked, but soooo excited.  I will report to the England Missionary Training Center on January 19, 2012!  And then on to Scotland and Ireland to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

You might say I'm excited.  And extremely nervous.  But there is a scripture I like to read when I get scared.  It says, "And now, behold, I say unto you that the thing which will be of the most worth unto you will be to declare repentance unto this people, that you may bring souls unto me, that you may rest with them in the kingdom of my Father." (Doctrine & Covenants 15:6)  The thing that will be of the MOST WORTH to me is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.  So when I get scared to move to a different country, or leave my family for a year and a half, or eat haggis...I know there is nothing greater I could be doing.  And that always makes me feel better.  There is no greater cause I could be fighting for (hence the title of the blog).  :)

Since I won't be able to blog while I'm on my mission, my mom and my sisters have volunteered to take over.  They will post letters, emails, pictures, and whatever else they want to that I send home.  I highly doubt anyone will read this, but if you do I hope you can share in my experiences that I have in Scotland and Ireland, because I know you're jealous. ;)

Well, three weeks from TODAY, I'm outta here! haha But I have one more scripture to share before I go.  It's in The Book of Mormon, and it is Alma 29:9.  I guess you could call it my 'mission scripture'....  "I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it.  I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy."

One day, (I'm hoping sooner rather than later) I can be just like Alma.  To have my glory and my joy be bringing other souls to God.  And to His son Jesus Christ.  That's what I have dedicated the next 18 months of my life to, and I'm glad to do it.  Because I know that God is our Heavenly Father.  He loves us sooo much, and He wants us to return to Him.  BUT, the only way to return to Him is through our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ, and through His Atonement.  And you're saying this is what I get to do all day, every day, for the next eighteen months?  Testify of Them?  Done and done.  :)
